Happy 2017! I love this time of year. Everyone is excited for new beginnings, setting goals, signing up for triathlons and half marathons/marathons and looking to push past fears and conquer goals! At Powered By BLING, our philosophy is Challenge Yourself to Cross Your Own Personal Finish Lines! #CrossYourFinishLines
So, what better time of year than the first week of January to introduce myself to you and tell you all about what I hope this website offers you in encouragement, support and resources.
I’m Cassandra. I started Powered By BLING in January 2013. In June 2014. I bought my LLC as a birthday present to myself. Why did I start Powered By BLING? You can read my story HERE and HERE.
I am a Forensic Scientist and have worked for the same government agency for almost 20 years. In addition to that, I also run my daughter’s swim team. But wait, there’s more! Like any overachiever, I also have my hands in too many other things. I am also an AFAA Certified Group Exercise Instructor. The Powered By BLING brand includes this website, Powered By BLING Travel and XFL Fitness and Lifestyle Coaching (Coming Soon). And as if all that isn’t enough, I have been writing a book since I was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2010 and am beginning the process of looking for a publisher.
Who I am is pretty complex. I grew up in Avon Lake, Ohio by way of Marion and then attended Bowling Green State University where I received my first of three degrees. After that, I moved to Washington, DC where I lived in a brownstone on Capitol Hill right around the corner from the farmer’s market. I attended The George Washington University where I received my Masters degree. After living in DC for about 5 years, I moved to the Maryland area and decided what the heck, I love to learn, so let me go get another degree! So, I attended Towson University, took a couple extra classes and turned my minor into a 2nd Bachelors degree. All total I have two bachelors degrees – one in Psychology and one in Chemistry – along with a Master of Forensic Science. I’ve set and achieved goals in my professional career over these 20 years including being on Forensic Files (episode: Dollars and Sense). The episode still airs from time to time, but you can also find it on YouTube.
I have been married to my husband, Joe, for thirteen years and we have an amazing daughter who you will come to know as Mini Me. Being from Maryland, we are, of course, Ravens fans! We love to travel so we have combined our love of running and triathlons into family racecations. (PBB Travel’s specialty!) We have earned BLING (race medals) in the USA as well as internationally and our goal for 2017 is to push ourselves toward longer distances in our racing.
On the pages of this blog, you’ll find content about running, triathlons, race recaps, travel and racecation tips and experiences, recipes and personal development. My goal is to inspire you to set and achieve new goals in the hopes that you too will celebrate as you #CrossYourFinishLines
I’d also love to share my Guide to Setting and Achieving Goals eBook with you! To download it, simply subscribe to my newsletter using the form below or the one in the right sidebar.
I can’t wait to get to know each and every one of you as we journey this road together. So, feel free to introduce yourself in the comments below.
